Senior Data Engineer – Commodities Technology

Location: London

A leading global investment firm is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join its Commodities Technology team. Sitting at the intersection of front-office trading and enterprise data engineering, you'll design and build the data platforms that power real-time trading decisions. This is a highly visible role where you'll work directly with traders, portfolio managers, and quantitative researchers, owning business-critical data systems in a fast-paced, low-latency environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Design, build and maintain high-performance, low-latency data pipelines.
  • Develop production-grade Python services and data engineering solutions.
  • Own critical production systems, participating in an on-call rota and resolving live incidents.
  • Work closely with front-office users to deliver reliable, high-quality data.
  • Build and improve cloud-native, containerised data platforms.
  • Drive engineering best practices through code reviews, testing and CI/CD.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
