About the Role

BakerHicks is looking for an experienced Senior C&I Engineer to support a growing workload across a range of technically complex projects.

The successful candidate will join a small team of engineers and designers, while also working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.

The role will involve the delivery of Control and Instrumentation activities across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies through to commissioning. This includes C&I design, data sheets, schedules, and associated technical documentation.

Project work may include clean rooms, hazardous areas, and process plants.

The initial assignment is expected to be within Life Sciences, supporting a chemical plant project, with further opportunities to work across Nuclear and Defence projects.

This role will be based in our Manchester office, alongside regular client site visits in the NE.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering C&I activities from feasibility through to commissioning.
  • Producing C&I design, data sheets, schedules, and associated documentation.
  • Taking ownership of packages of work and delivering them independently.
  • Deputising for the Lead Engineer when required.
  • Working closely with a small engineering and design team, as well as a wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Engaging with clients where required.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who can work independently, take ownership of a package of work and deliver it confidently, with proven experience delivering independently.

  • Experience delivering a full C&I package on projects within highly regulated sectors.
  • Experience with hazardous area equipment selection and installation design requirements.
  • Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance at SC level or above.
  • Willingness and ability to attend regular site visits.

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance or assurance level for this role (SC level), in line with client and sector requirements. In some cases, additional nationality or residency criteria may also apply due to specific client or national security obligations.
