AECOM is seeking to recruit a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a highways and drainage focus to join our busy Development Infrastructure Team in St Albans.
The team delivers a wide range of multidisciplinary, predominantly residential-led infrastructure projects. Our work spans:
- Early scoping and feasibility
- Technical support for planning
- Detailed infrastructure design for implementation
- Ongoing support during construction
In addition, the team supports AECOM design teams across the UK and Ireland on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects, including:
- Highways
- Rail
- Water infrastructure
- Solar farms
We also provide civil engineering design support to our structural engineering colleagues on projects across:
- Commercial
- Education
- Leisure
- Defence
- Healthcare
- Government sectors

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced Civil Engineer to further develop their career, taking on increased responsibility for both technical delivery and project management.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead the technical and digital delivery of civil engineering projects.
- Prepare and review survey specifications, including utilities and topographical surveys.
- Check and coordinate the production of:
- Studies
- Assessments
- Conceptual designs for development schemes (drainage, highways, utilities, earthworks, and flood risk).
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and key stakeholders to secure approvals and ensure compliance.
- Contribute to bids and proposals, attend project meetings, and confidently communicate technical solutions.

Qualifications
Ready to Push the Limits of What’s Possible?
Requirements:
- A Civil Engineering degree (BEng) and/or postgraduate qualification (MEng).
- Relevant experience, ideally within a consultancy environment, delivering:
- Highways and drainage design
- Residential, commercial, and wider infrastructure schemes
- Proficiency in industry-standard software:
- InfoDrainage
- AutoCAD
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience working with developer clients and contractors, with a proven track record of delivering infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS is welcomed but not essential, along with an interest in integrated AI solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BEng or MEng with progress toward Incorporated or Chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), or membership of CIWEM or CIHT.
