About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our soon-to-be-launched Birmingham office, working closely with our established Dublin team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the growth of our new UK hub while delivering major hyperscale data centre projects across the EMEA region.
The role will initially be fully remote. Once the Birmingham hub is operational, flexible office attendance will be required as part of a hybrid working model.
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will deliver projects across EMEA from initial concept through to client handover. You will take ownership of project delivery, build strong client relationships and ensure all deliverables meet our quality assurance standards.
You will be technically proficient in electrical design, with a broader understanding of BMS/EPMS, security systems, and CSA coordination. You will also work closely with support engineers and BIM technicians, ensuring project objectives and quality standards are consistently achieved.
Your day-to-day activities
- Lead the electrical design on projects, managing delivery from concept through to construction and handover.
- Champion Ethos’ electrical design standards and drive adoption of innovative technologies and sustainable solutions.
- Coordinate and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team, ensuring high-quality output and timely delivery.
- Liaise with clients, architects, project managers, and contractors, acting as the key point of contact for electrical design matters.
- Prepare technical specifications and fully detailed tender packages, including reports, analysis, and recommendations.
- Oversee and perform design and installation quality checks in line with project requirements and industry regulations.
- Develop project scopes in collaboration with the design team and clients.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and graduates.
- Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, and site inspections as needed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
