About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work within the HVDC Valve Engineering team within the Solution Line (SL) of Grid Systems Integration (GSI) in GE Vernova.

The purpose of the role is to lead the design and analysis of mechanical systems and structures for our HVDC Valve products that must meet stringent requirements.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, cooling engineers, and external compliance experts to ensure that our products are robust, compliant, and manufacturable.

Scope of the Role

  • Lead the design and analysis of mechanical systems and structures for HVDC Valve products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product robustness, compliance, and manufacturability.
  • Lead teams to deliver project aspects through design, investigation, testing, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with sourcing and third-party suppliers to ensure best value and delivery.
  • Lead specification and design reviews for compliance with internal, regional, and global standards.
  • Lead interaction with site and quality teams to ensure DFM (Design for Manufacture) and structural integrity during installation.
  • Validate and approve materials and supplied parts.
  • Approve documentation of designs, test results, and engineering change orders.

Candidate Profile

  • Educated to degree level in mechanical engineering.
  • Proven track record and experience in mechanical elements and testing for electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Experience at a senior level to lead an engineering team.
  • Highly skilled in CAD software (Creo, or similar) and FEA tools (ANSYS preferred).
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and communicate these to non-technical audiences.
  • Significant oral and written communication skills.
  • Team leadership, ability to develop and mentor junior engineers.
  • EHS compliance ability – qualifications related to safety and the environment.
