Senior Software Engineer (Onboarding)

Location: London Office – Hybrid (4 days in the office, 1 day working from home)

About the Role

Ebury is seeking exceptional and highly motivated Senior Software Engineers to join our engineering division. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact within a leading FinTech firm.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of our team from your first day, contributing to mission-critical projects and deploying production code within your first week.

You will have significant responsibility, agency, and ownership of large, mission-critical services, platforms, and products. We are committed to identifying and nurturing future technical leaders, with clear opportunities for career progression for those who demonstrate exceptional performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality, scalable software solutions for our global financial platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product managers, designers, and engineers) to deliver robust features and products.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from ideation and technical design to deployment and maintenance.
  • Contribute to technical discussions and architectural design reviews, shaping the future of our technology stack.
  • Uphold and enhance engineering best practices through rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD principles.

We encourage using AI tools to augment skills but emphasize that you must fully understand and own the code you develop.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with a strong academic record.
  • Over 7 years of production-grade software engineering experience (competency, attitude, and ability matter more than an exact number).
  • Experience in fintech or financial services preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in core computer science principles (algorithms, data structures, software design) and complexity analysis.
  • Practical programming skills in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Java, Go).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to tackle complex challenges thoroughly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a commitment to collaboration within teams.

Desirable Attributes

Ideal candidates may also have:

  • Previous software development internship experience.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Open-source contributions or a personal technical portfolio that showcases curiosity and expertise.
