Senior Engineer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of a major infrastructure project involving the construction of a new link road and viaduct. The scheme includes the development of a 550-metre road and a 250-metre viaduct crossing both a river and an active railway line.

Reporting to the Site Agent

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for managing all engineering activities on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications. The successful candidate will oversee engineers under their supervision and provide technical leadership throughout the construction process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all engineering activities associated with the project.
  • Supervise and support site engineers, ensuring engineering duties are completed to the required standards.
  • Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Produce and manage Temporary Works Briefs and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Prepare weekly progress reports and planning updates.
  • Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Review and submit Technical Queries (TQs).
  • Identify and communicate Early Warnings and project risks.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Support project delivery by maintaining accurate engineering records and documentation.

Requirements

  • MEng, BEng, Foundation Degree, BTEC, or Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years' varied site experience within civil engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction management principles and site operations.
  • Good commercial and business awareness.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative effectively.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
