Senior Engineer

As a Senior Engineer at Careys, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality civil engineering projects across our portfolio. Working closely with the Project Engineer, Project Manager, and wider delivery team, you will take responsibility for leading engineering activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and in line with design, programme, and commercial requirements.

You will take ownership of setting out, temporary works coordination, quality assurance, buildability reviews, information flow, and subcontractor management. You will also lead a team of Engineers, Graduates, and Apprentices—providing technical guidance, mentoring, and ensuring high performance standards across the engineering function.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on technical challenge, enjoys influencing construction methodology, and is driven by delivering excellence on site.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Take ownership of setting out, temporary works coordination, quality assurance, buildability reviews, information flow, and subcontractor management.
  • Lead a team of Engineers, Graduates, and Apprentices—providing technical guidance, mentoring, and ensuring high performance standards across the engineering function.
  • Thrive on technical challenge.

What You Will Bring

  • A recognised Civil or Structural Engineering qualification (HNC or above).
  • SMSTS and TWC qualifications.
  • Experience working on major civil engineering projects such as highways, infrastructure, rail, or utilities.
  • Strong technical skills in setting out, surveying, reading drawings, and ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Good working knowledge of temporary works, materials testing, and quality assurance.
  • Proven experience managing, mentoring, and developing Engineers.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues early and implement practical solutions.
  • A collaborative mindset and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality work.
