Senior Shift Engineer / Engineering Manager

4 Days On / 4 Days Off | 7am–7pm

Take ownership. Lead from the front. Keep production moving.

We're working exclusively with an established, high-volume industrial manufacturing and processing business that is looking for an experienced Senior Shift Engineer / Engineering Manager to join its operation in North London.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced multi-skilled engineer who is ready to take the next step into a senior engineering leadership role — or for an existing Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader or Engineering Manager looking for a new challenge.

You'll play a key role in keeping a highly automated production environment running efficiently, safely and reliably.

The Opportunity

Working a 4 days on / 4 days off, 12-hour day shift, you'll take ownership of engineering activity across your shift and work closely with production and operations to maximise uptime and minimise downtime.

You'll be both hands-on and leadership focused, providing technical support when things go wrong while also driving preventative maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the engineering function across your shift
  • Lead, support and develop engineering colleagues
  • Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns and ensure rapid resolution
  • Fault-find across automated production and processing machinery
  • Carry out and improve planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control-system faults
  • Work with PLCs, sensors, motors, drives and automated equipment
  • Identify recurring faults and carry out root-cause analysis
  • Implement permanent solutions to improve equipment reliability
  • Work closely with Production and Operations to minimise downtime
  • Prioritise engineering workloads and allocate resources effectively
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and CMMS data
  • Ensure engineering activities meet health, safety and compliance requirements
  • Support continuous improvement, engineering projects and equipment upgrades
  • Provide clear technical reporting and effective shift handovers

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
