Company Description

Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.

Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.

Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.

As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.

For everyone, everywhere.

More about our mission and what we offer.

Job Description

About the role:

You'll join the Finance Tribe at a pivotal stage of Wise's growth. We've recently moved our primary listing from the LSE to Nasdaq, and as we scale globally we're investing significantly in the technical foundations of our finance systems — with SOX readiness as one of the critical drivers. Beyond audit and compliance, we see this as a chance to redefine what finance tooling looks like in the AI era.

You'll lead the engineering team behind Wise's Finance Systems estate — the platforms our Group Finance org runs the company financial operations on. This is a transformation role–over the next 2–3 years you'll partner with the Product and CFO org to modernise our ERP and surrounding finance tooling, stand up the engineering foundations for SOX as a newly US-listed company, and shape what AI-native finance operations look like at Wise.

What you'll be owning:

  • Technical strategy for Finance Systems. Set the architecture and multi-year roadmap for our ERP and surrounding finance platforms.
  • The team. Lead, hire, and grow a senior engineering team. Set the bar for engineering quality in a domain where correctness, auditability, and resilience is non-negotiable.
  • SOX engineering foundations. Build the tooling, controls, and change-management practices that make SOX compliance a property of how we Engineer.
  • Operational maturity. Drive deployment frequency, observability, incident response, and change control to a standard appropriate for systems the CFO signs off on.
  • Co-own the roadmap with Finance and Product. Translate Group Finance's priorities — (e.g. close acceleration, intercompany, AP/AR, statutory reporting, others) — into a credible engineering plan.
  • Automation and AI. Drive efficiencies through AI-assisted finance operational tooling by deciding where automation pays off, where it doesn't, and helping us make the right tooling choice & integrations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Qualifications

What do you need?:

  • 12+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years leading engineering teams in finance, fintech, or other regulated/audited domains.
  • Deep experience with Tier 1 ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Workday Financials, or NetSuite at enterprise scale) — including at least one migration, consolidation, or major modernisation programme you led the engineering side of.
  • SOX or equivalent control-environment experience. You've built — not just complied with — engineering practices that hold up to external audit.
  • Architectural range. Comfortable across vendor configuration, custom extensions, integration middleware, and event-driven patterns. You know when to buy, when to build, and when to wrap.
  • Stakeholder fluency at the CFO level. You can partner transparently with Finance Business Process leads, explain complex trade-offs, and successfully achieve organisational alignment.
  • A pragmatic transformation instinct. You ship in increments, but you don't lose sight of the destination.

Nice to have

  • First-hand experience taking a company through SOX readiness post-listing.
  • Fintech, payments, or banking background.
  • Public POV on AI in the finance back-office — what works, what's hype.
