Senior Engineering Manager – AI Platform

£180,000 base + Equity

Hybrid – London (3 days per week in an amazing office space)

High-growth AI-native technology company


I'm working with one of Europe's most exciting AI-native technology businesses to hire an Engineering Manager into a highly visible AI Platform team. This is an opportunity to lead the engineering team responsible for the AI capabilities that power products used by millions of people globally.

You'll lead a team of senior engineers working at the intersection of software engineering, machine learning and product, building the platform that enables AI-powered personalisation, prediction and intelligent user experiences across the business.

The Role

  • Lead and develop a team of seven experienced engineers, including several Principal Engineers
  • Drive delivery across a business-critical AI Platform that supports teams across the organisation
  • Shape technical direction through architecture and system design rather than day-to-day coding
  • Balance product priorities with engineering excellence, ensuring AI capabilities deliver measurable business outcomes
  • Partner closely with Product and senior leadership to translate strategy into execution
  • Build scalable AI infrastructure that enables new AI-powered products and features
  • Manage strategic relationships with external AI partners and technology providers
  • 80% leadership/strategy, 20% technical through system design

What They're Looking For

  • Previous experience leading high-performing engineering teams in a product environment
  • Strong technical credibility with experience contributing to architecture and system design
  • Commercial experience delivering AI or machine learning products into production
  • Broad engineering, data science or ML background with the ability to operate across software engineering and AI/ML in production
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience working closely with Product and Executive teams
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve quickly
  • Experience with LLMs is beneficial, but strong engineering fundamentals and AI production experience are more important
