Job Title: Senior Engineering Manager – HVAC & Chilled Water

Location: Preferably Scotstoun however other BAE Sites will be considered – periodic travel to Scotstoun is required and there is also some international travel to Canada involved. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Up to £74,600 depending on skills and experience

Job Description:

The River Class Destroyer (RCD) is a nationally significant defence programme for Canada and HVAC is one of the key areas of design development. As the Senior Engineering Manager, you will provide both strategic and tactical direction to the HVAC & Chilled Water Engineering Manager, enabling the development and maintenance of an effective delivery plan. You will support the Engineering Manager in leading the engineering team to deliver the programme’s daily and weekly design outputs, including engineering changes, calculations, technical design documentation, and reviews of vendor-furnished information.

Core Duties:

  • Act as the principal representative for the HVAC and Chilled Water domain at customer engagements and internal BAE Systems Chief Engineer forums
  • Develop and maintain strong, effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to enable successful programme delivery
  • Deputise for the Head of Platform Engineering IPT as Platform Mechanical Engineering delegate when required
  • Oversee and conduct complex technical analyses and investigations, including the evaluation of design options, and produce clear, evidence-based recommendations to support problem resolution and continuous improvement

Essential Skills:

  • You will be degree qualified with honours or a Masters’ degree (or other qualification plus appropriate further learning to honours degree level) in a STEM related subject. A Chartered Engineer (or equivalent), and a member of an appropriate professional institution
  • You will have experience and expertise in HVAC and Chilled Water Systems
  • You will have previous experience leading or managing a team
  • You will have knowledge of Project Management principles such as budgeting, planning, scheduling & project controls
