Job Description
About the Managed Postgres team
The Managed Postgres team is building a high-performance, reliable PostgreSQL service within ClickHouse Cloud. We give developers a familiar PostgreSQL experience, remove operational burden, and connect transactional Postgres workloads with real-time analytics in ClickHouse. The team owns provisioning, high availability, backup and recovery, upgrades, observability, performance, security, and developer experience.
About The Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team building and operating ClickHouse Managed Postgres. You will combine people leadership, technical direction, product thinking, and operational ownership while maintaining the reliability customers expect.
You will report directly to Kaushik Iska, who leads the Managed Postgres organization. You will partner closely with Product, Design, Infrastructure, Security, Support, and engineering teams across ClickHouse.
What you will do
- Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing team through clear expectations, feedback, development, and direct performance management.
- Own outcomes across provisioning, fleet management, failover, point-in-time recovery, upgrades, observability, performance, and security.
- Turn customer and business needs into a multi-quarter roadmap with incremental milestones.
- Guide architecture and help senior engineers make explicit, sound tradeoffs.
- Raise operational quality across SLOs, on-call, incidents, maintenance, and automation.
- Work directly with customers and turn recurring pain into product improvements.
- Align dependencies, surface risks early, and keep execution predictable across a distributed organization.
- Hire the right mix of PostgreSQL, systems, infrastructure, reliability, and product engineering talent while fostering ownership and clear technical debate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Technical credibility to engage deeply in architecture and incidents without owning daily implementation.
- A record of hiring, coaching, developing, and retaining engineers, including senior ICs.
- Strong execution judgment across ambiguity, parallel workstreams, risk, and long-term system health.
- A customer mindset, strong Product partnership, clear communication, and distributed-team leadership.
Nice to have
- Managed PostgreSQL, relational database, or cloud control-plane leadership
