Senior Enterprise Architect – Business & Commercial Banking
💰 £550/day (Inside IR35) 📍 London (2 days per week onsite)
📅 12-Month Contract
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Enterprise Architect to support a major Business & Commercial Banking technology programme. You’ll work across business, architecture, engineering and delivery teams to shape enterprise and end-to-end architectures, define future-state technology roadmaps and support complex transformation and modernisation initiatives. This role requires strong Commercial Banking/Financial Services architecture experience, combined with broad expertise across cloud, integration, data and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Define high-level, future-state and North Star architectures, technology views and strategic roadmaps.
- Support the adoption of Architecture as Code approaches.
- Shape end-to-end architectures across cloud, data, integration and infrastructure domains.
- Provide architectural direction covering strategy, principles, standards and guardrails.
- Develop transition-state architectures and support architecture delivery through implementation.
- Work directly with programme and workstream leads to shape scope, requirements, architecture and design roadmaps.
- Produce architectural artefacts and identify cross-domain dependencies, risks and design impacts.
- Lead and support feasibility assessments and solution designs.
- Define tooling strategy and data delivery/integration patterns.
- Provide architectural assurance and contribute to architecture governance.
- Influence senior stakeholders across CTO, CIO, Engineering, Architecture and Business teams.
- Work closely with delivery, platform and engineering teams to ensure architectural coherence while enabling pragmatic delivery.

Essential Skills
- Strong Enterprise Architecture experience within Commercial Banking, Business Banking or Corporate Banking.
- Strong understanding of the architectural challenges associated with banking and financial services.
- Broad architecture expertise across cloud, integration, data and infrastructure.
- Strong experience defining target-state/North Star architectures and technology roadmaps.
- Experience shaping complex transformation and modernisation programmes.
- Strong solution and enterprise architecture capabilities applied to complex business problems.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders across CTO, CIO, Architecture, Engineering and Business functions.
- Strong understanding of modern technology architecture, standards, principles and governance.
- Experience working closely with engineering, platform and delivery teams.

Desirable Skills
- Strong Microsoft Azure architecture and cloud solution design experience.
- Experience developing Architecture as Code approaches.
- Experience leading or providing direction to a small team of Enterprise Architects.
- Experience architecting technology platforms supporting global business operations.
- Knowledge of regulatory and governance requirements within banking.
