Senior Enterprise Architect – IT/OT
6-Month contract – Inside IR35 – market rate
Glasgow or Aberdeen based – 1-2 days onsite

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture
- Provide senior Enterprise Architecture expertise across the Transmission portfolio.
- Work closely with the Architecture Lead to develop and maintain the architectural direction for the function.
- Contribute to the development of strategies, target architectures, roadmaps, capability models and other key architecture artefacts.
Architecture Assurance
- Provide architectural assurance across major projects, programmes and BAU initiatives.
- Review and challenge Solution Architecture produced by project teams, delivery organisations and third-party suppliers.
- Ensure proposed solutions comply with agreed architectural principles, standards, patterns and guardrails.
Project & Programme Engagement
- Work directly with project and programme teams to understand business requirements and architectural implications.
- Provide senior architectural guidance on complex or strategically important initiatives.
IT & OT
- Provide architectural input across both IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments.
- Understand the particular architectural, operational and risk considerations associated with OT environments.
- Work across the IT/OT boundary to ensure appropriate integration and alignment.

Architecture Governance & Alignment
- Work closely with Group Architecture to ensure Transmission architecture activity aligns with Group processes, standards and governance mechanisms.
- Support the consistent application of architecture processes and standards across projects and programmes.
Solution Architecture
- While the primary focus of the role is Enterprise Architecture and assurance, the successful candidate will also:
- Apply substantial Solution Architecture experience when reviewing and shaping complex solutions.
- Provide hands-on architectural input where required for complex BAU or operational requirements.
- Support the Architecture Lead and wider team on particularly complex or strategically significant solution decisions.
- Act as a senior technical and architectural sounding board for other architects.
Experience & Skills
Essential
- Extensive senior-level Enterprise Architecture experience.
- Significant previous experience in Solution Architecture.
- Experience with Operational Technology (OT) and IT/OT architecture.
- A strong technical breadth and understanding of modern technology landscapes.
- Experience providing architecture assurance and governance across large-scale programmes and projects.
- Experience working with senior business, technology and delivery stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of architectural principles, standards, patterns, roadmaps, capability models and governance.
- Experience working in complex, large-scale organisations.
- Experience working in an asset-intensive environment.
- Ability to operate independently and provide credible architectural challenge to senior stakeholders and suppliers.

Highly Desirable
- Experience within the electricity industry, particularly transmission, distribution or generation.
- Wider energy or utilities sector experience.
- Experience working in other large-scale asset-based organisations.
- Experience working from an architecture function within major capital delivery programmes.
- Understanding of large infrastructure or asset investment environments.
- Experience working across domains such as capital projects, asset management, operations or customer.
- Experience with Bizzdesign or comparable Enterprise Architecture repositories.
- Experience working within a federated architecture model alongside a Group or enterprise architecture function.
