We are a plucky, independent, fully-remote video game studio primarily based in the UK, and makers of the widely praised and highly-rated Galacticare and War for the Overworld.

The core team has joined together from all over the world because of a shared passion for building brighter universes. Our goal is to continue creating genre-twisting 3D simulation and management games; and if we can do it with a quirkily British sense of humour, then all the better!

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Environment Artist to join the team working on Kaiju Cleanup for a 12-month contract.

You will be joining a highly passionate team of developers, helping us push and blend the boundaries of traditional game genres. As a Senior Environment Artist, you will be responsible for shaping the visual identity of our worlds, translating high-level design concepts into immersive, readable, and technically sound 3D environments.

We are looking for someone who has demonstrable experience in creating stylised or semi-realistic environments, architectural storytelling, thrives on the unique challenges of building assets for novel games within a tight-knit indie team and has a keen eye for art quality and lighting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the Environment Art

    • Direct the visual style, quality bar, and reference standards for all levels within Kaiju Cleanup, working with the Environment Art team and Designers and within the game's overall art direction
    • Provide guidance to the art team on best practices for environment workflows, including modularity and trim sheets and procedural generation techniques
    • Review the environment asset list and sign off on finished environment work before it's considered complete

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Build the Levels

    • Model and texture a wide range of assets, from modular building kits to unique "hero" props, and create, set-dress, and polish high-quality 3D environments that support gameplay and hold up within tight performance constraints. Work within Unity to set up materials, develop prototype block-outs and implement final art assets
    • Embed Kaiju into environments, working closely with Character Art and Design to solve concept and technical issues, and there is a path of destruction modelled that fits the storytelling
    • Technical Art Integration: Work with the VFX and Lighting team to bring environments to life, ensuring lighting fits the visual direction
  • Liaise for the Environment Art Team

    • Work with the Design team to ensure environments are functional for gameplay mechanics and UI requirements, as well as ensuring Kaiju related gameplay isn't hindered by the environment
    • Work with the Production team, who owns the asset list and schedule, to ensure when environment art priorities are set by production, they become the working priorities of the Environment Art team, raising blockers to production as needed
    • Work with the Technical team to ensure environments are performant and any required optimisations are factored into the overall visual direction of the environments
