Senior Environmental Advisor

Location: Cumbria (onsite role)

Salary: Circa £50,000 + Strong benefits + lodging available if required

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Senior Environmental Advisor to join a major civil engineering programme on a highly regulated nuclear site in Cumbria. Working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance, promoting best practice, and supporting the delivery of environmental objectives across the project.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a nationally significant infrastructure programme, helping to minimise environmental impacts while ensuring compliance with legislation, project requirements, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities Of The Senior Environmental Advisor

  • Support the implementation of the project's Environmental Management Plan and ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and site requirements.
  • Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and monitoring activities, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Provide environmental advice and support to project teams, promoting best practice in areas such as waste management, pollution prevention, and resource efficiency.
  • Assist with environmental reporting, incident investigations, and the collection of environmental performance data.
  • Engage with project stakeholders and supply chain partners to drive continuous environmental improvement across all project activities.

Requirements Of The Senior Environmental Advisor

  • Experience in an Environmental Advisor, Environmental Coordinator, or similar role within civil engineering, infrastructure, construction, or other regulated industries.
  • Good understanding of environmental legislation, compliance requirements, and environmental management systems.
  • Experience conducting environmental audits, inspections, and monitoring activities on site.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Relevant degree, qualification, or equivalent experience in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
