Senior Environmental Protection Specialist
Senior Environmental Protection Officer / Senior EHO
Housing and Environmental Health Service
Permanent, full time, grade 9 (from £46,364 to £50,757 pa)
Based in Andover, Hampshire, with the opportunity to work partly from home

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Environmental Protection professional to join our Housing and Environmental Health Service and help protect people, places and the wider environment across the borough
As an Environmental Protection specialist, you will work within a small, supportive team carrying out a varied range of environmental protection functions. This will include responding to planning and licensing consultations, supporting environmental permitting work, providing advice on noise, dust and light impacts, investigating nuisance complaints, and contributing to wider service priorities such as air quality, contaminated land and private water supplies
You will work closely with residents, businesses, colleagues in planning and licensing, and other partner organisations. Some of our work is reactive, so you will need to balance planned priorities with changing demands while keeping clear records and delivering timely, practical advice
About You
You will be either a qualified environmental health officer, or a suitably qualified professional, with good technical knowledge and a strong interest in environmental protection. You will be enthusiastic, customer focused, and technically knowledgeable, with sound judgement and first-rate problem-solving and communication skills

Experience in planning consultation work, environmental permitting, licensing consultation work, noise control and nuisance investigation work would be an advantage. An Institute of Acoustics Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control, or a similar noise qualification, would be advantageous
You’ll need to hold a driving licence and have access to your own vehicle. While we offer agile working, including the ability to work from home, you will be expected to attend the office on a regular basis and carry out site visits across the borough when needed
