Senior Estates Surveyor - Local Authority

South West
£46,000 - £49,000
Hybrid Working

If you're an Estates Surveyor who enjoys variety rather than being stuck doing the same type of work every day, this could be a really good opportunity.

I'm working with a South West Local Authority looking to bring an experienced Senior Estates Surveyor into their property team.

It's a varied role across a diverse corporate and commercial portfolio, with plenty of autonomy to manage your own caseload and get involved in some interesting property matters.

What will you be getting stuck into?

  • Landlord & Tenant and general estate management
  • Valuations and professional property advice
  • Acquisitions & disposals
  • Negotiating a range of property transactions
  • Supporting investment, asset management and regeneration activity
  • Providing advice to senior stakeholders
  • Managing complex cases from instruction through to completion

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

There's a good balance between day-to-day estates work and wider strategic property projects, so this would ideally suit someone who can hit the ground running and confidently take ownership of their workload.

Who are we looking for?

  • MRICS qualification is essential
  • Newly qualified MRICS candidates will absolutely be considered, providing you have good experience working within Local Government and can demonstrate a strong understanding of public-sector estates.
  • For more experienced candidates, we're looking for a solid background across commercial property, L&T, valuations and transactions, alongside confident negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • You'll be joining an experienced property team with a broad workload and plenty happening across the estate.
