Senior Estimator

Client Information

Our client is a leading international main contractor with a strong presence across the UK, delivering high-profile projects within the education, healthcare, commercial, residential, life sciences, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. Renowned for delivering complex schemes through collaborative working, they are committed to innovation, sustainability, and investing in their people. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join their expanding Pre-Construction team.

Senior Estimator Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for a range of construction projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission.
  • Review tender documentation, specifications, and drawings to identify project scope, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop cost plans and pricing strategies, ensuring estimates are commercially robust and competitive.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations and build effective working relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with Pre-Construction, Commercial, and Operational teams to develop innovative construction solutions.
  • Assess construction methodologies, procurement routes, and programme implications during the tender process.
  • Produce bills of quantities and pricing documentation using Conquest or equivalent estimating software.
  • Support value engineering exercises and identify opportunities to improve project efficiency and client value.
  • Ensure all estimates are prepared accurately and submitted within agreed deadlines.

Senior Estimator Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline, or possess equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven experience in an estimating role within a Tier 1, regional main contractor, or specialist subcontractor.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, procurement routes, and current market costs.
  • Experience using Conquest or similar estimating software.
  • Good understanding of NEC forms of contract.
  • Ideally possess previous site-based construction experience.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and commercial awareness.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Professional membership, or working towards membership of a recognised industry body, is advantageous.
