About the Role

Due to continued growth, new contracts, and an extensive pipeline of work, Ireland’s Main Contractors have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Estimator to join their team working on a wide variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with NEC contracts and a strong background in civil engineering/construction projects. You will be working on a wide range of projects from residential, commercial, leisure, etc. This role will be based in the Newry or Belfast office with flexibility to travel to sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all project costs to ensure that projects are completed within budget.
  • Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for our projects.
  • Manage NEC contracts, including interpreting contract clauses, managing early warnings, and assessing compensation events.
  • Analyse and assess variations, manage claims in compliance with NEC guidelines, and ensure timely resolution of any contract issues.
  • Conduct cost analysis and risk management for ongoing projects.
  • Oversee procurement processes, negotiate with subcontractors, and manage subcontractor performance.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on project financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract documents and manage contract variations.

Requirements

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying/ Estimation.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in quantity surveying within the Civil Engineering sector.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost control, and procurement processes.
  • Proven experience with NEC contracts is essential.
  • Proficient in the use of COINS, Primavera P6, MS Project software, and MS Office suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Salary: £75K – £85K neg DOE.
