Senior Estimator

About Naughton Contracts Limited (NCL)

Naughton Contracts Ltd is a young, ambitious civil engineering company delivering groundworks, earthworks, basements, site set-up and enabling, and civil engineering solutions across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects — including major data centre developments. We're looking for a Senior Estimator to join our team at our Hatfield head office and play a key role in winning and pricing the projects that keep us growing.

About the Role

As Senior Estimator, you'll be responsible for producing accurate, competitive tenders and estimates across our core service areas. Groundworks, earthworks, basements, site set-up and enabling, and civil engineering. Supporting the commercial team in securing new work and maintaining Naughton's reputation for quality, reliability, and value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, well-substantiated cost estimates and tenders for groundworks, earthworks, basements, civil engineering, and site set-up/enabling projects.
  • Analyse tender documents, drawings, and specifications to identify scope, risk, and opportunity.
  • Source and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers to build competitive pricing.
  • Prepare and present bid submissions, method statements, and pricing schedules to clients.
  • Liaise with clients, designers, and internal project teams throughout the tender process.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
  • Support the commercial team with post-tender negotiations and handover to delivery teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of historical pricing data, productivity rates, and market trends.
  • Mentor and support junior estimators within the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
