Job Title: Senior Events Marketing Manager

Brand: Wonderly
Reporting To: Digital Strategy Director
Location: Twickenham
Hybrid: 3 days in the office
Employment: Full time - permanent
Salary Range: £47,000 - £50,000

Responsibilities

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity within our events marketing team at Wonderly. Wonderly delivers large scale events and conferences on behalf of our clients, who are leading Associations. The Senior Events Marketing Manager will be responsible for shaping and delivering robust marketing plans and objectives, which are based around the strategies devised for a portfolio of conference and exhibition style events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and deliver robust strategic marketing plans focusing on; driving bookings/registrations, generating commercial leads to supporting customer adoption and conversion, and improving customer advocacy for the events and the client’s wider brand
  • Support delegate modelling, pricing strategy and yield management for the allocated event portfolios to ensure revenue targets are met
  • Accountable for achieving registrations and delegate revenue targets for the allocated portfolios of events
  • Overseeing the effective delivery of the marketing plans, supporting and mentoring marketing managers to ensure timely delivery against deadlines and relevant client approvals
  • Find innovative ways to deliver against the marketing plans, strategies and KPIs, whilst being able to flex your plan in response to the evolving market conditions and client requirements
  • Work collaboratively with the wider event team and key client stakeholders, showing adaptability and great communication skills
  • Support a transition to high-value marketing approach working with peers, relevant internal teams and client stakeholders to build and deliver a data informed, brand, content and proposition led model
  • In line with our clients’ brands, develop and implement event-specific branding guidelines and become the brand guardian for the events
  • Lead on design brief and overseeing work with internal and external designers based on the needs of the events and related marketing campaigns
  • Lead on client reporting, planning, internal communications and the development of a high performing event marketing team
  • Develop and maintain a high level of sector specific knowledge – evaluating customer research, market conditions, competitor data to provide insights, produce effective and engaging marketing plans to meet overall strategic objectives
  • Understand the event’s customer base, identify segments and develop data and 365 communication strategies around this
  • Account management support with key suppliers, partners and our clients, to deliver on time strategic, customer-centric, marketing and communication event plans
  • Identifying potential strategic partners, helping to build relationships, negotiate contra deals, delivering the activity and reporting on results

Key Relationships

Works closely with the Digital Strategy Director and Commercial, Content and Partnerships teams to build effective working relationships, share knowledge, provide support and contribute to the successful delivery of business objectives.

Knowledge

  • Strategic understanding - able to think about the needs from their role in the wider context of the organisation, and develop plans and adjust to multiple external factors.
  • Time-management - able to work on multiple and varied projects with internal and external key stakeholders
  • Innovative - demonstrates new thinking in strategy and execution
  • Excellent communication - to motivate the team, plus work constructively to win-win with internal and external stakeholders
  • Quality assurance - experience in quality assurance and brand guardianship overseeing quality outputs

Skills

  • Client management - experience working collaboratively with external clients and stakeholders, ideally within an event agency environment
  • Knowledge of using design programmes including; Illustrator, InDesign and Canva
  • Confident, creative copywriter, who takes a customer centric approach to content writing
  • Project management – experience with collaborative project management tools such as Monday.com

Experience

  • Experienced marketer, who has successfully managed a team, operating at Marketing Manager level or above.
  • Proven track record in delivering successful event marketing strategies, planning multi-channel marketing campaigns, ideally within a B2B events environment.
  • Significant experience in a successful marketing team in a matrixed organisation.

  • A strategic thinker with good analytical, numerical and communication skills
  • Adept at creating and planning segmented email campaigns with targeted messaging
  • Database management skills – experience building/ growing and nurturing a database
  • Solid understanding of digital marketing, website optimisation, UX and mobile apps – the implementation and tactical uses of; SEO, PPC, Google Ad words, banner ads and retargeting campaigns, to drive website traffic, engagement and lead generation
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent proof-reading, editing and copy-writing skills: ability to devise and edit engaging content across all platforms and provide constructive feedback and direction
  • High degree of computer literacy – with advanced Excel skills and the ability to manipulate and work with data and formulas to assist with reporting
  • Ability to report and analyse campaign results, draw business conclusions and provide recommendations
  • Demonstrable experience managing budgets
  • Experience in an event / exhibition background, ideally from an established organisation or an Association

  • Delivery of robust event marketing plans - running regular reports, analysing results and making recommendations to guide direction and delivery of campaigns to achieve revenue and delegate targets
  • Foster close working relationships with key client stakeholders ensuring we are exceeding expectations
  • Ensuring websites and content are up to date, clear, engaging and optimised
  • Tracking and managing the event marketing budgets and ensuring all activity is within budget
