Through Inspire Structures, our specialist teams deliver high-precision inspections and engineering solutions for assets including rail, highway and airside structures. Using a wide range of specialist access techniques, including rope access, confined space entry, underwater inspections and drone surveys, we’re able to safely inspect and assess even the most challenging locations, providing our customers with reliable insight into the condition and integrity of their assets.

Please note, this role requires national travel and ideally candidates would be located in/around the following locations:

  • London
  • Peterborough
  • Nottingham
  • Manchester
  • Leeds

What will you be doing?

As a Senior Examining Engineer for Inspire Structures, part of British Engineering Services Group, you will independently deliver complex infrastructure examinations and engineering services while supporting the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of projects across the rail and structures portfolio.

You will:

  • Undertake tunnel and structural examinations independently, acting as Examining Engineer where required.
  • Coordinate small teams to deliver annual programmes of inspection and examination work.
  • Plan and manage examination methods, including access arrangements and programme sequencing.
  • Produce timely, accurate condition and examination reports.
  • Monitor progress against programmes and proactively identify and escalate delivery risks.
  • Maintain accurate HSQE records and contribute to audits, technical guidance notes and briefings.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Engineers and Examiners.

To join our team, you will need:

  • A Degree, HND or HNC in Civil Engineering.
  • To hold STE2 and STE6 competencies.
  • PTS (Personal Track Safety).
  • Strong experience in infrastructure or structural engineering, including inspections, examination and maintenance.
  • Proven ability to manage your own workload and contribute to programme delivery.
  • The ability to mentor and support junior engineers and examiners.
  • Willingness to travel nationally.
  • To be medically fit for rail work and hold the appropriate railway medical.
  • Full UK Driving License.
