Job Details
Hours:
- 40hrs per week
- 8.5 hrs per shift
Shift:
- Rotating between 0600-2030 Mon-Fri
- 1 week early 0600-1430
- 1 week lates 1200-2030
- 2 Saturdays a month between 0600-1830 (0600-1430/1000-1830) paid at overtime
Salary:
Competitive salary plus shift allowance
Job Purpose
All aspects of daily Export Operations of pharmaceutical and Temperature controlled shipments, from the moment a job is created, processing and monitoring through to its arrival at destination. Perform all elements of the air export function, including booking air freight, submitting export declarations via CDS, processing shipments, and preparing shipments for final export (labelling and processing).
Main Responsibilities
- Use of internal and external IT and Transport management System (TMS), FileBound, JetStream, Op-STAR & SharePoint.
- External communication with service providers.
- Internal communications within the World Courier network and other UK departments.
- Preparation and completion of all documentation and paperwork for export.
- Checking shipments have had freight charges applied – wherever applicable.
- Liaising with airlines to ascertain the whereabouts of missing cargo.
- Completion of Post-flight and internal TMS reports.
- Specialist export of goods through a variety of Government regulated bodies such as The Home Office, Cites, The Chamber of Commerce, DEFRA and HMRC.
- Customs entries involving procedures through CDS.
- Strict adherence to numerous internal procedures both department specific and company specific, the latter being defined by SOPs and Ops memos.
- Shipment handling including loading and unloading of freight.
- Preparation of shipments for export, to include topping up of dry ice, gel pack replenishment, marking and labelling.
- Monitoring of A/S messages.
- Checking dangerous goods notes.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven export background, ideally with road export/customs experience.
- Proficiency in air export functions and the Customs Declaration System (CDS).
- Strong understanding of air freight tariffs, charges, and customer service.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal and computer skills.
- Professional and confident presentation skills.
- Proficiency with working tools such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Fluency in English.
- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Ability to independently manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Able to provide relevant ad-hoc information on request.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
