The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior facilities manager to join the facilities and pub services team at head office, in Watford. The successful applicant must live or relocate to within a commutable distance to Watford.

This is a varied and challenging role, responsible for helping to lead the management of a diverse portfolio of facilities, utilities and property-related services across the Wetherspoon estate. Working closely with both internal stakeholders and external service providers, the successful candidate will ensure that pubs receive the highest-possible level of service, while maintaining strong commercial control, compliance and operational efficiency.

The facilities and pub services team manages a broad range of business areas, including:

  • refuse and recycling
  • utilities (electricity, gas and water)
  • service providers (including PHS washroom services, BOC dispense gas, hotel linen and car parks)
  • on-site staff accommodation
  • business rates (including material change in circumstance (MCC) appeals)
  • business improvement districts (BIDs)
  • council tax
  • service charges
  • landlords` insurance
  • third-party incidents
  • ancillary property matters
  • environment matters (including packaging regulations, deposit-return schemes and energy-saving trials and initiatives)

Key Responsibilities

  • supporting the daily management of the team
  • helping to lead and develop the facilities team, promoting high standards of performance, customer service and continuous improvement
  • managing relationships with external suppliers and service providers, ensuring that contractual obligations and service-level agreements are achieved
  • ensuring that pubs receive a prompt, professional and effective service across all areas of responsibility
  • identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, reduce costs and drive operational efficiencies
  • monitoring suppliers` performance through regular reporting, meetings and performance reviews
  • investigating operational issues and working collaboratively with suppliers and internal departments to resolve them effectively
  • analysing operational and financial data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
  • assisting in preparing reports and presentations for senior management
  • ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, company policies and contractual requirements
  • building strong working relationships with area managers, operations, finance, property and other key stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • previous management experience, including line management responsibilities
  • excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
