Senior Family Solicitor

Bristol

Salary up to £75,000 DOE

Yolk Recruitment is supporting a highly regarded specialist family law practice with the recruitment of a Senior Family Solicitor to join its established South West team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior family lawyer with extensive Legal Aid and children law experience who wants greater flexibility, high-quality work, and the opportunity to play an important role within a supportive and growing team.

The firm specializes exclusively in family law and is recognized for its commitment to access to justice and supporting vulnerable clients. With opportunities available across the South West, the role also offers genuine hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

This is what you will be doing

As a Senior Family Solicitor, you will manage your own varied caseload while working alongside an experienced team of solicitors, trainees, and paralegals. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing public law children matters and representing parents, family members, and children in care proceedings.
  • Representing children in Rule 16.4 proceedings and taking instructions from competent children where appropriate.
  • Conducting your own advocacy and attending court hearings predominantly across the South West.
  • Handling Legal Aid children law matters alongside opportunities to undertake private children work.
  • Supervising and supporting fellow fee earners, trainees, and junior members of the family law team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
