We are recruiting for a Head of Family to join an established family team, combining a strong fee-earning caseload with responsibility for the leadership, development, and performance of a small team across multiple offices.

The successful candidate will form part of the Senior Leadership Team and will play an important role in supporting the wider direction of the department, while continuing to manage their own family caseload and maintain strong client relationships.

They have offices across North Yorkshire, and the position offers flexibility on which office to work out of, with the option to work from home up to two days per week.

Typical duties would include:

  • Managing a full caseload of privately funded family matters, including divorce, cohabitation, financial matters, and private children work.
  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of fee earners, trainee solicitor, paralegal, and legal assistant across multiple sites.
  • Monitoring departmental performance, including billing, fees received, WIP, capacity, and other KPIs.
  • Supporting recruitment, training, development, and performance management across the department.
  • Contributing to the Senior Leadership Team and wider business strategy, including risk management, business development, and continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
