Our Role

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, this role will be working closely with the Marketing, Creative, Digital and Contact Centre teams to drive insight and business growth but also ensuring tight cost management of these areas.

This person will be an important business partner for the Multichannel Director and provide insight into Direct (digital) performance helping to drive both sales and profitability through development and production of weekly/monthly reports. This will involve working with the Marketing team to understand the success of marketing expenditure (both online and offline) and a good understanding of the return on investment of new customer acquisition and the retention of existing customers.

As well as giving insight into the performance this person will support the budgeting and forecasting process both from a Channel and Customer perspective working with both the Direct team and Marketing team to produce the future business plans.

This person will be a key business partner for the Creative and Contact Centre teams ensuring tight cost management but also looking for continuous improvement and future growth opportunities.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing insight with the purpose of improving the profitability of the Direct (digital) channel.
  • Responsible for producing monthly management accounts for Marketing, Creative, Digital and the Contact Centre, including journal posting, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Interpreting the return on investment for marketing expenditure both online and offline, helping to inform future decision making (new customers recruited, sales and margin on first order, expected customer lifetime value and payback period).
  • Produce the bi-annual forecasts for the Marketing, Creative, Digital and Contact Centre, explaining clearly variances from previous plan.
  • Build relationships across the various stakeholders to ensure they get the right financial analysis they need to make the right decisions.
  • Gain an understanding and assist the Marketing team in building a budget from a customer perspective using acquisition and retention plans.
  • Provided adhoc analysis as required.

The Skills & Experience That You’ll Need

  • Part Qualified Accountant
  • Experience of month-end management within a complex business-facing area.
  • Ability to assimilate and summarise complex commercial information and communicate this in an articulate and concise manner to Finance and Non Finance stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Prior experience in a business partnering and/or commercial finance role, preferably for a retail, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) or similar environment
  • Experience in an online retail environment would be desirable
  • Excellent excel skills
  • Strong interest in building an understanding of the key drivers of the business
  • Able to work in partnership with the business to drive operational improvements
  • Highly adaptable and able to comfortably work to tight deadlines and/or varying business priorities
  • Take full ownership and accountability over designated areas of responsibilities
