About The Team And The Role
The Commercial Controls team oversees governance, financial controls, and performance tracking for all supplier-funded media and promotional revenue streams. We continuously evaluate underlying data and performance trends to unlock actionable business insights and support data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
Working collaboratively with commercial buying teams, financial accounting, and FP&A, we drive sustainable, profitable growth. As a Senior Finance Analyst – Commercial Income, reporting to the Senior Finance Manager – Commercial Income Controls, you will play a central role in driving revenue accuracy, robust financial governance, and commercial clarity across retail supplier income.
What You’ll Do
- Drive Income Accuracy & Commercial Analysis: Lead end-to-end accounting controls and reporting for promotional revenue streams. Conduct deep-dive commercial performance analysis, evaluate market trends, surface growth opportunities, and mitigate potential financial risks.
- Manage Month-End & Audit Deliverables: Oversee the promotional income month-end close process, perform detailed financial reconciliations, and handle core supplier confirmation deliverables for statutory and internal audits.
- Partner with Third-Party Audit Recovery: Act as the primary finance contact and commercial business partner for external audit recovery partners. Streamline claim approval workflows, partner with internal compliance teams, accelerate review cycles, and maximise audit recovery returns.
- Lead Financial Governance & Compliance Audits: Lead internal value and documentation reviews to verify Joint Business Planning (JBP) agreement structures, signatures, and promotional spend compliance. Continuously enhance internal control frameworks to ensure commercial deal mechanics meet core risk standards.
- Analyse Revenue & JBP Performance: Conduct periodic performance reviews of third-party income and year-on-year growth incentives across key supplier accounts. Support supplier negotiation reporting, invoicing routines, and financial sensitivity modeling.

Who You Are
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Professional: Fully qualified finance professional (CIMA / ACCA or equivalent) or holding a relevant degree qualification.
- Advanced Data & Analytical Capability: High proficiency in handling complex datasets, performing deep-dive variance analysis, and translating raw numerical data into clear, actionable commercial insights.
- Stakeholder & Business Partnering: Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of managing relationships across commercial buying teams, internal leadership, and external recovery audit partners.
- Attention to Detail: A methodical, thorough approach to reviewing agreement documentation, verifying promotional deal mechanics, and completing financial reconciliations.

- Process Automation & Continuous Improvement Mindset: A proactive drive to optimize manual workflows, automate routine reporting, and strengthen financial control frameworks.
