What you'll do

  • Assist the Senior Finance Manager by providing the BU management team with accurate and timely financial and operational results. Including concise, committed, business-focused commentary.
  • Support in developing and implementing BI requirements related to Maritime operations, working closely with the Insights, Analytics & Reporting team (IAR) and other Group finance functions.
  • Assist the Senior Finance Manager by providing constructive, high-quality, commercially focused financial analysis. This supports the BU President and SLT in making efficient operational decisions through strategic and tactical business insights.
  • Support the Senior Finance Manager to ensure that the Maritime BU has in place an up-to-date, high-quality full-year forecast that reflects all relevant material issues and business plans, is prepared on a timely basis, shows the roadmap by which the required full-year results will be delivered, and is owned by BU line management.
  • Support the Senior Finance Manager to ensure that the Maritime BU has in place a high-quality Strategic Plan and Budget that reflects all relevant material issues and business plans, is consistent with and delivers the results required by the Strategic Plan for the BU and Group, is prepared on a timely basis, and is owned by BU line management.
  • Add customer value by partnering with the Sales and Operations teams in the BU. Provide insightful data and analysis to enhance their effectiveness.
  • Support all teams within the BU with any ad hoc financial requirements they have to ensure consistency and accuracy with the figures being presented.
  • Assist the Senior Finance Manager with any potential Maritime BU transaction activities, including strategic partner deals and other M&A activities.

The day-to-day

  • Work within a high-profile team that has exposure to senior collaborators within the business and also within Viasat.
  • Operate within a dynamic business unit within an industry that is quickly evolving.
  • Add real tangible benefit to the Maritime Business Unit and to Viasat as a whole by providing accurate reporting and detailed analytics/analysis of the financial results.

What you'll need

  • Graduate or equivalent with a professional accounting or finance qualification (or part qualified and working toward chartered qualification).
  • 3+ years progressive experience in finance, acting at an international level, and with high-quality companies.
  • Strong commercial/business partner experience for material revenue-generating business units.
  • Proven ability to develop trusted and appropriately influential relationships with senior executives.
  • Commercially astute, technically strong, and influential with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Exceptional analytical and Excel skills coupled with good strategic business understanding leading to key business insight.
  • Ability and experience to lead Finance and cross-functional processes and deliver guideline approaches.

  • Ability to travel and work across cultures and time zones.
  • Capable and with the desire to develop further and with the potential of being a Finance leader of the future.
  • Relevant industry experience including a working knowledge of satellite communications market dynamics.
