Main duties of the job
The subsidiary team is part of the UHS Finance team providing professional financial and governance services under contract to the UHS subsidiary companies. As Senior Finance Assistant in the subsidiaries finance team, you will assist in the production of monthly management reports, including preparing journals, running reports and supporting reconciliations. You'll support the Finance Team and Budget Holders with ad-hoc queries, assist with costings and analysis, and support invoicing and payments.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- Assist in the production of regular monthly management reports detailing actual performance against plan, analysing, interpreting and reporting any variances as requested, and including processing recharges.
- Assist the Finance Teams with month-end processes, including preparing journals, running reports and supporting reconciliations to ensure financial timetables are met.
- Investigate financial queries as requested by the Budget Managers or Finance Teams. This includes issues about payment of invoices, payroll queries and coding issues.
- Assist the Finance Teams and Budget Managers in sorting and validating staffing information, on spreadsheets and in the general ledger.
- Assist the Finance Managers in ad hoc costing and analysis, which may include designing spreadsheets for own use and team members.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
- BTEC/NVQ Level 4 / Diploma or HNC in relevant subject or equivalent experience
- Educated to Level 4 in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline (e.g. ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business (RQF Level 4), CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, AAT Level 4 or equivalent).
- Previous experience of working in a Finance environment
- Evidence of working with a wide range of finance transactions.
- Experience of working with service managers and handling questions regarding financial matters
- Experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive data and appropriate maintenance and storage of records.
- Experience of producing management information / financial reports manipulating data gathered from a variety of sources.
- Experience investigating and resolving variances
- Evidence of working with a wide range of finance transactions, demonstrating an ability to understand how to understand, process and question financial matters
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- NHS Finance experience
- Knowledge of Oracle financial systems
- Experience of cash forecasting
- Actively studying towards a professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
