Senior Accounts Assistant

Location: Central London (4 days per week in the office)

Salary: Up to £40,000 + Discretionary Bonus + Study Support


We are delighted to be partnering with a highly successful and prestigious investment organisation to recruit a Senior Accounts Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team within a professional and fast-paced environment, offering genuine exposure across a broad range of finance activities and excellent long-term career development.


Reporting to the Financial Controller

You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function, taking ownership of transactional finance processes while supporting month-end and year-end activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the purchase ledger, processing supplier invoices and maintaining supplier accounts
  • Monitor invoice approval workflows and resolve supplier queries
  • Process staff expenses and company credit card reconciliations
  • Prepare and issue sales invoices, recharges and intercompany invoices
  • Perform credit control and maintain debtor records
  • Manage cashbooks, bank reconciliations and daily banking activities
  • Prepare supplier and intercompany payment runs
  • Support month-end close through accurate transactional processing and finance schedules
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation and external audit requests
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external service providers
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and controls

About You

We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and enjoys working in a high-quality professional environment. You will have:

  • Previous experience in a Senior Accounts Assistant, Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant role
  • Strong understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger, payments and bank reconciliations
  • Experience with cashbook management and transactional finance
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience using cloud-based accounting software (Xero experience is advantageous)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships
  • AAT qualified or currently studying towards an accounting qualification would be advantageous
  • A proactive approach and a willingness to learn and develop
