Senior Finance Assistant / Senior Accounts Assistant

Are you an experienced finance professional looking to take the next step in your career?
We're recruiting for a Senior Finance Assistant / Senior Accounts Assistant to join a well-established provider of business communication and security technology solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive finance team where you'll take ownership of key finance processes, play an important role in month-end activities, and mentor junior team members.
What you'll be doing:
- ✅ Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns across multiple entities
- ✅ Managing intercompany invoicing, recharges and reconciliations
- ✅ Reconciling intercompany balances and resolving discrepancies
- ✅ Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations, including multi-currency accounts
- ✅ Posting accruals, prepayments and month-end journals
- ✅ Supporting month-end close and management accounts preparation
- ✅ Processing sales and purchase invoices
- ✅ Managing supplier payment runs and supplier statement reconciliations
- ✅ Maintaining accurate sales, purchase and nominal ledgers
- ✅ Monitoring aged debtors and creditors and resolving outstanding balances
- ✅ Reconciling balance sheet control accounts
- ✅ Supporting and mentoring Finance Assistants within the team

What we're looking for:
- ✔️ Around 5 years' experience in a finance role.
- ✔️ Previous experience within a multi-entity business
- ✔️ Strong knowledge of VAT returns, intercompany accounting and reconciliations
- ✔️ Experience with accruals, prepayments, journals and month-end processes
- ✔️ AAT qualified, part-qualified or qualified through relevant experience
- ✔️ Strong bank and balance sheet reconciliation skills
- ✔️ Experience maintaining accurate financial ledgers and financial controls
- ✔️ Strong Sage 50 experience
- ✔️ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- ✔️ ERP system experience would be advantageous
