Location: Barnsley / Hybrid
Contract: Full-time (35 hours per week Monday to Friday) / Permanent
Salary: £56,818 - £63,802 (2026/27 pay award pending) plus: benefits and relocation support

We are looking forward to recruiting our next Senior Finance Business Partner who will further develop our thinking and help us realise our ambitions as well as being responsible for managing the strategic finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Further develop our thinking and help us realise our ambitions
  • Manage the strategic finance team
  • Apply specialist knowledge to influence others at all levels in the organisation including the Senior Management Team and the elected members of the Authority
  • Prepare business cases, present reports, provide advice on strategic finance issues, and provide training, guidance, and presentations on relevant subjects

Requirements

  • Professional accountancy qualification from a CCAB member body, preferably CIPFA
  • Current membership with up-to-date CPD
  • Significant professional experience in public sector finance, ideally within Local Government or the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Proven track record in translating strategic objectives into operational plans and leading and developing staff in a financial environment
  • Experience in managing relationships with external auditors, banking, custodian, finance software, etc.
