We are working with a growing and commercially focused insurance business to appoint a Senior Finance Business Partner into a key role within its finance function.
This is a high-profile finance role offering the opportunity to move beyond traditional reporting and become a genuine strategic partner to the business. You will have significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence underwriting performance, portfolio strategy, profitability and wider business growth within a dynamic insurance environment.
The Role
You will work closely with senior stakeholders across Underwriting, Claims and Operations, providing forward-looking financial insight and helping shape strategic and commercial decision-making.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a trusted finance partner to Managing Directors, Heads of Underwriting, Claims leaders and other senior stakeholders
- Leading budgets, forecasts, long-term planning and scenario modelling
- Providing insight into profitability, portfolio performance and value creation opportunities
- Analysing key insurance metrics including combined ratio, loss ratio and expense ratio
- Partnering with Underwriting, Claims and Actuarial teams to understand performance, reserving, pricing and capital implications
- Supporting portfolio optimisation, investment decisions, business cases and M&A activity
- Contributing to capital planning, reinsurance strategy and Solvency II considerations
- Leading performance reviews and supporting senior / Board-level reporting
- Strengthening financial governance, controls, reporting and decision-making
- Driving finance transformation, improved MI, data quality and automation

About You
We are looking for a ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualified accountant with:
- 5–10 years’ post-qualified experience
- Strong experience within insurance, an MGA, Lloyd’s, specialty insurance or a related insurance environment
- A strong understanding of insurance financials and performance drivers
- Experience partnering with Underwriting, Claims and/or Actuarial stakeholders
- Strong commercial and strategic thinking, with the confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
- Advanced financial modelling, forecasting and analytical skills
- Experience with portfolio performance, profitability analysis and business planning
- An understanding of capital, reserving, reinsurance and/or Solvency II would be highly advantageous
- Ideally, experience of leading or developing finance teams
