Senior Finance Business Partner
East Midlands | £70,000–£80,000 + car allowance + bonus + pension | Hybrid – 2 days in the office
“Find me someone who could outgrow this role in the next year or so.”
That was the CFO’s brief.
If you’re ACA qualified, a couple of years out of audit, have moved into commercial finance and are starting to wonder where the next proper step is coming from, this could be worth a conversation.
The opportunity here is pretty clear.
Come in as a Senior Finance Business Partner, take ownership of a sizeable area of the business, and there’s scope to progress through roles such as Head of Business Partnering, take on wider transformation projects, and ultimately move towards Commercial Finance Director over the next few years.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

They’re ideally looking for someone who trained in practice, qualified ACA and has since spent a couple of years in a commercial finance or business partnering role within a reasonably sizeable organisation.
You don’t need to be the finished article.
They’re looking for someone with enough experience to do the role now, but importantly, someone with the headroom and ambition to grow beyond it fairly quickly.
If you’re in a larger business where progression feels slow, you’re waiting for someone above you to move, or you simply want a clearer route to senior commercial leadership, this is the kind of opportunity that could accelerate things considerably.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
