Base Location

You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: Reading or Dublin (there will be regular travel)

Salary

£68,100 - £102,100 / €90,300 - €135,500 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

The Senior Finance Business Partner – Business Energy provides senior commercial finance leadership to the Business Energy GB business, partnering commercial and operational leaders to support profitable growth, disciplined performance management and value-based decision-making. The role provides insight, challenge and financial governance across pricing, customer economics, margin, cost, working capital, credit risk and investment decisions, ensuring Finance is embedded in commercial decision-making and performance delivery and business choices are aligned to SSE Customer and SSE Group priorities.

You will

  • Partner with senior leaders across Business Energy GB, providing insightful financial guidance, constructive challenge and commercial expertise to shape strategic and operational decisions.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning, ensuring financial assumptions are robust, commercially credible and aligned with customer, market and business priorities.
  • Turn financial performance into actionable insight, identifying the key drivers behind margin, customer volumes, bad debt, cost-to-serve, operating costs and working capital to inform confident decision-making.
  • Shape investment and commercial decisions by evaluating customer propositions, digital and systems investment, transformation and other strategic initiatives, balancing opportunity, return and risk.
  • Translate strategy into sustainable growth and value, providing financial leadership across customer growth and retention, proposition economics, portfolio choices and operational efficiency.

You have

  • Fully qualified accountant with substantial post-qualification experience in commercial finance, business partnering, financial planning or performance leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of business energy supply market and B2B customer economics, pricing, margin, cost-to-serve, credit risk and working capital drivers.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders through clear insight, constructive challenge and commercially grounded recommendations.
  • Advanced financial modelling, scenario analysis and performance insight capability.
  • Ability to operate across Finance, commercial, operational and Group stakeholders in a complex, fast-moving business environment.
