About the role
Proactive provision of comprehensive management accounting information and recommendations relating to the Commercial performance of IAG Cargo. To support the IAG Cargo Finance Management and drive the business to achieve its financial and related productivity targets, ensuring compliance with all corporate governance requirements whilst maintaining an adequate level of internal control.
Business partner for key contacts in the IAG Cargo Commercial team, presenting key management information and supporting the creation and delivery of business cases and commercial initiatives. Lead Commercial Finance reporting and forecasting processes, responsible for producing and improving monthly business review packs, working with two direct reports. Ensure commercial costs are accurately reported and tightly controlled.
What you’ll do
- Provide comprehensive financial accounting, management accounting and reporting for commercial areas of the business, in particular by supporting the improvement of consolidated regional information by working with and coaching the Commercial finance consolidation analyst
- Support the IAG Cargo Capital Investment Committee process which trades off scarce investment resources via a business case analysis and control process.
- Carry out analysis of unit cost and productivity measures, linking operational and financial performance, to identify areas for focus/change.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for cost reduction and/or revenue improvement.
- Present complex information in an accessible and meaningful way.
- Support the wider IAG Cargo Commercial teams to prepare and track Business Plans, Financial Plans (includes budgeting, planning and forecasting) and Local Targets using appropriate modelling techniques where required.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements via automation and standardisation and support or manage the implementation of any changes.
- Work within and promote the internal audit controls environment: implement control mechanisms, monitor, review and report against them and relevant statutory requirements. Ensure the efficient and effective implementation of appropriate actions and recommendations.
- Provide ad-hoc information, support and liaison where required.

What you’ll bring to IAG Cargo:
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to manipulate, analyse, and interpret financial and business data.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Proactive, taking the initiative to explore issues and generate new ideas and approaches.
- Flexible in approach, responding positively to change.
- Able to deal with ambiguity.
- Strong team player with ability to promote good team working and cooperation.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Takes responsibility for managing and prioritising own work with the resilience to work under pressure and deliver results to deadlines.
- Ability to line manage and coach direct reports.
Skills and Experience:
- Be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA) or equivalent.
- Have a good understanding of finance theory and practical experience in management accounting.
- Demonstrate business awareness and commercial acumen developed through finance knowledge and experience.
- Be numerate and accurate.
- Have good IT skills and experience of finance systems including: Excel, Essbase, Business Objects, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Proven track record of effective business partnering of commercial-facing roles in fast moving business.
