Unique Corporate Finance Role for a Qualified Accountant in Edinburgh

Three Bridges Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a highly respected organisation in Edinburgh to recruit a qualified accountant into a unique Corporate Finance role. This is an excellent opportunity to work across investment, early-stage businesses, and the commercialisation of innovative ideas.

The role has a structured split, working with a specialist investment team and partly within the wider finance function. You’ll lead financial reporting & valuations across an early-stage investment portfolio, alongside post-deal commercial finance, royalty auditing & risk evaluation. It’s an unusual mix of technical accounting, valuations & commercial finance. You’ll bring a commercial lens to investment methodology, pricing, fundraising & wider decision-making.

Job

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Lead valuation & financial reporting across a portfolio of early-stage & non-trading investments
  • Undertake fair value & group valuations, ensuring methodologies are robust
  • Apply UK GAAP, FRS 102 & relevant investment guidance, including IPEV
  • Support investment pricing, valuation decisions & fundraising activity
  • Analyse portfolio performance & provide insight to support decision-making
  • Lead relevant statutory, compliance & reporting activity
  • Support financial data, reporting & information systems
  • Provide post-deal finance support across a portfolio of commercial agreements
  • Undertake commercial analysis, royalty audits & risk evaluations
  • Work across investment & finance teams, bringing a commercial lens to technical financial information
  • Potentially take on management responsibility, depending on experience

You

This role could suit someone from a technical accounting, corporate finance, valuations or investment background looking for something broader remit. You don’t need to have covered every element, but you will need a strong technical foundation, credible valuation experience & a commercial mindset.

You will ideally possess the following:

  • Qualifications: Professionally qualified accountant – ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW or ICAS
  • Knowledge:
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP & FRS 102
    • Knowledge of investment valuation guidance, including IPEV
    • Fair value valuation experience, ideally involving early-stage or non-trading businesses
    • Experience of group accounting & valuations
  • Skills:
    • Ability to assess valuation methodologies & ensure a robust approach
    • Strong financial analysis & reporting skills
    • Commercial mindset with the ability to look beyond the numbers
    • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly
    • Strong stakeholder & relationship-building skills
    • Practical, proactive & collaborative approach
