Salary - circa £47,500 per annum plus extensive benefits listed below
Location - Manchester / North West, with approximately 1–2 days per week at the Wigan office
Role Purpose:
This exciting role offers a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to take ownership of the end-to-end production of monthly management accounts and to partner with the business on commercial modelling and pricing, while gaining valuable exposure to senior levels of the business, including the Senior Leadership Team.
The postholder will champion the month-end process, report on monthly KPIs, and take on ad hoc projects, including educating budget holders. As part of a dynamic team, the postholder will help lay the groundwork for future business growth, with a key focus on delivering well-structured and clear reporting. The postholder will oversee the financial records of EPIC Global Solutions and EPIC Global Solutions PBC (US), ensuring that all accounting books are accurate and that management accounts are presented in a timely manner. The role also includes developing and managing the systems and controls that support these processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control, Reporting & Compliance:
- Conduct daily reviews of bank transactions and reconciliations, and monthly customer and supplier reconciliations.
- Prepare financial reports and management accounts, collaborating closely with the Company's Statutory Accountants/auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Ensure the regular and timely preparation of financial reports as requested by the Company Directors, including monthly, quarterly and yearly reports, and others as required from time to time.
- Review the recording and processing of transactions on company cards (Pleo), maintaining meticulous attention to detail and adherence to company policies and procedures (currently carried out by the Company Bookkeeper and Business Finance Co-ordinator).
- Monitor adherence to the travel and expenses policy, identifying trends and areas for improvement, and conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance and efficiency in expense management processes.

Team Leadership & Payroll:
- Supervise and ensure the accurate processing of sales and purchase ledger transactions, overseeing the work of the Company's off-site, freelance Bookkeeper.
- Provide development support to the newly appointed Business Finance Co-ordinator.
- Manage staff payroll processing through an external payroll provider, taking responsibility for accurate and timely payments.
US Subsidiary & Intercompany:
- Provide accounting support for the financial activities of the Company's sister company in the US, collaborating with the outsourced business services team currently responsible for managing payroll and other support services for the subsidiary, ensuring seamless coordination and compliance with both Company policies and standards and US regulations.
- Produce reports to quantify inter-company transactions and handle transfer pricing arrangements.
Commercial Finance, Budgeting & Business Partnering:
- Own the annual budget process in collaboration with budget holders, reviewing performance against budget.
- Build and maintain commercial models to support bid pricing, contract profitability and scenario planning.
- Analyse revenue and margin by contract, customer and service line, explaining the drivers behind performance to the Managing Director and budget holders.
- Educate budget holders on responsible reporting and recording of expenditure, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and transparent financial management across departments and geography
- Act as day-to-day liaison with the Company's customers, suppliers, bankers, external accountants, and any other parties as requested by the Company Directors.
- Advise and work with the Company Directors on all financial matters, controls and strategy.

Systems, Governance & Continuous Improvement:
- Proactively review processes with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Participate in the review, design, development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Company's accounting and financial systems to promote efficiency.
- Keep up to date with financial knowledge and best practice relevant to the Company, advising the Company Directors and ensuring full compliance with regulatory reporting and legislation
- Treat all information relating to the financial and corporate affairs of the Company, its Directors and its employees as confidential, unless specifically informed otherwise by a Company Director.
Skills and Experience
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or qualified by experience.
- A skilled user of a range of finance and banking packages and applications, specifically Xero.
- Advanced Excel skills (V-lookups, pivot tables etc.) to enable rapid data handling.
- Commercial curiosity
- Experience building or maintaining commercial models for pricing, bids or contract profitability.
- A forward-thinking problem solver, able to think quickly and work well under pressure.
- Ability to take a pragmatic approach in a busy, fast-paced workplace.
- Experience working within management accounting, with at least 2 years working at a similar level.
- Experience managing or developing junior finance staff.
- Demonstrably strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise own workload.
- Able to work flexibly.
Based in the wider Manchester / North West area, with an expectation of attending the Wigan office approximately 1–2 days per week. This is not a fully remote role.
