The Opportunity
We are recruiting a Senior Finance Manager on behalf of a large UK business which forms part of a global organisation.
This is a high-profile role within the finance function, taking full financial ownership of a significant production cost base and acting as a key finance partner to senior operational stakeholders across the organisation.
Reporting into senior finance leadership and managing a team of two, you will take ownership of the Production P&L, providing the financial insight, challenge and commercial support required to drive effective decision making.
The role combines strong financial control and management accounting with genuine business partnering, making it particularly well suited to someone who enjoys getting underneath operational performance and working closely with non-finance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the Production P&L, ensuring robust financial control and a clear understanding of the key drivers behind performance.
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting and rolling planning process across production and operational costs.
- Deliver accurate weekly, monthly and longer-term financial reporting, providing clear commentary around performance, risks and opportunities.
- Partner closely with senior operational stakeholders, both internally and externally, providing financial insight and constructive challenge.
- Develop a detailed understanding of operational cost drivers and identify opportunities to improve performance and efficiency.
- Support commercial decision making, business cases and contract reviews relating to production and operational activities.
- Maintain strong control over balance sheet accounts, inventory and other operationally driven financial areas.
- Challenge existing processes and controls, identifying opportunities to simplify, automate and improve financial reporting.
- Lead, coach and develop two direct reports, ensuring high standards of delivery across the team.
- Build strong relationships across finance and the wider organisation, translating complex financial information into meaningful insight for non-finance stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
