About the Business
A fantastic opportunity to join an innovative, investor-backed manufacturing business based in Worcester as a Senior Finance Manager, paying £60,000 – £70,000 per annum on a hybrid basis. Reporting to the Finance Director, you’ll run the finance function day to day and own the finance system, getting the processes, controls and reporting in shape for the next stage of the business’s growth. It’s a visible, influential role with real ownership, ideal for someone who enjoys building things properly rather than just keeping them ticking over.
Main Duties
As a Senior Finance Manager, your main duties include:
- Running the finance operation on a daily basis, from the ledgers and cash flow through to the monthly close, staying hands-on wherever the team needs you
- Owning the monthly management accounts pack, departmental reporting and variance analysis, ensuring the numbers are accurate, consistent and delivered on time
- Keeping the balance sheet clean, making sure every reconciliation is completed, reviewed and fully supported
- Leading, coaching and developing the finance team, making sure outputs are reliable and land on schedule
- Acting as the in-house Sage 200 lead, shaping its setup, workflows and reporting so the system supports today’s needs and scales with the business
- Protecting data integrity across the finance system and getting to the bottom of any systems or process issues quickly
- Designing and strengthening the internal control framework, driving process improvements that keep the function compliant and efficient
- Getting the business ready for its first formal external audit, putting the controls, documentation and audit trail in place to make it a smooth process
- Partnering with the operational, production and commercial teams to keep product costing and stock accounting accurate
- Supporting the Finance Director with budgets, forecasts, financial models and longer-term planning that inform the big strategic calls
- Evaluating capital expenditure proposals and contributing to strategic projects as the business develops
- Flagging financial risks and opportunities early, giving leadership a clear view of what could affect performance
- Managing relationships with external advisers, including auditors, tax specialists and consultants
- Acting as a trusted, commercially minded finance partner across the organisation, handling sensitive information with discretion and sound judgement

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
