The Role
We are looking for an experienced, audit-trained finance professional to own the month-end close, financial control, finance operations and statutory reporting at Numan.
This role owns the integrity of our numbers: the month-end close, the external audit and statutory accounts, day-to-day finance operations including invoice processing, banking, treasury and tax and the controls that sit behind them. Working closely with the Director of Finance and the wider Finance team and building strong relationships with teams across the business, you will strengthen our control environment and build processes that scale.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants ownership of the core of a growing finance function, to raise the standard of financial control and to shape how a fast-paced evolving business is run.
What you'll do
- Audit: Own the year-end audit and statutory accounts and be the main contact for our auditors.
- Month end: Own the month-end close and make it faster and more accurate as the business grows.
- Controls: Close out audit recommendations and build a controls framework fit for the next stage of the business.
- Process improvement: Improve and automate finance processes, using AI and systems to reduce manual work.
- Business partnering: Work closely with the FP&A team towards a common goal of accurate, timely numbers, and with the wider business to build controls into how we buy, spend and pay.
- Technical accounting: Lead on complex accounting areas and any changes in accounting standards.
- Finance operations and tax: Oversee invoice processing, payments, banking, cash forecasting, VAT, corporation tax and R&D claims.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
