Senior Finance Manager

Competitive salary & benefits
Leadership opportunity based in Chippenham, Wiltshire
Strategic finance role within a growing UK law firm

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Manager to join their leadership team. Reporting directly to the Board of Equity Partners, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal finance professional to lead the firm's financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to its long-term commercial success.

The successful candidate will have significant experience within a UK law firm and a thorough understanding of the SRA Accounts Rules. This role combines strategic financial planning with hands-on operational oversight and leadership of a small finance team.

The Role

Day-to-day, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the firm's financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reporting for the Board.
  • Managing cash flow, working capital and overall financial performance.
  • Overseeing payroll, pensions, VAT returns, PAYE and National Insurance requirements.
  • Coordinating year-end accounts and managing the external audit process.
  • Ensuring compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules and wider regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing client account management, reconciliations and financial controls.
  • Supporting the COFA and liaising with reporting accountants and external auditors.
  • Monitoring WIP, billing, lock-up, debtors and departmental profitability.
  • Producing financial analysis and reporting to support commercial decision-making.
  • Leading and developing the finance team while assisting with legal cashiering duties when required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
