Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the merge Financial Management Team responsible for, among others, financial performance analysis, budgeting, financial planning and forecasting. The Financial Management Team supports a diversified group of operational and clinical leaders on the day-to-day budgetary management performance as well as strategic financial decisions.

As a Senior Finance Manager with the Financial Management function, you will play a central role in integration and alignment of two merging Management Accounts Team. The post holder will act as the central point for coordination across Divisional Management Accounts Teams, ensuring outputs are accurate, standardised, delivered to deadline and audit-ready. This role will also provide strong people leadership, ensuring Divisional Management Accounts Team operates effectively, consistently, and in line with the Trust’s standards. It will be an excellent opportunity to embed a culture of continuous improvement and implement the changes across a wide range of processes and reports.

Main Duties of the Job

  • To provide financial reporting and analysis to support Head of Management Accounts in the development and delivery of the financial and operational plan as well as the production of budget, monthly reporting pack and ad-hoc consolidation reports on Trust-wide projects.
  • To provide expert accounting and business knowledge, analytical support and clear presentation of financial and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
  • To support in ensuring that the team of Divisional Finance Managers work in a consistent way by supporting their ongoing professional development, through improvement of policies and procedures.
  • To support Head of Management Account in the delivery of the Trust’s financial management training programme for non-finance staff including the design of training material and facilitation and presentation at training events under supervision when suitable.

There is a requirement for the successful candidate to work in the office at least two days per week. This is a Trustwide approach and specifically for this role links to the requirement to line manage members of the finance team.

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
  • Good organiser with effective time management skills
  • Accounting skills including financial analysis, planning, business case development and options appraisal
  • Ability to use a full range of formulae to create spreadsheets and databases capable of recording, manipulating and analysing highly complex data and statistics
  • Evidence of excellent oral and written communication

  • Knowledge of NHS finance policy and NHS legislation
