More about the role:

The Senior Treasury Manager will own the strategy, systems and processes for foreign exchange risk management, commodity hedging and other financial risk management. They will provide leadership and oversight to cash forecasting and daily cash management.

They will also manage larger adhoc projects (e.g. ancillary facilities, M&As, and capital markets/bond issues, financing and refinancing). They will build strong relationships with banks, transacting treasury deals in accordance with Treasury Policy to reduce risk and maximise value for the company.

The Senior Treasury Manager will provide technical leadership, coaching, and guidance to develop the capability of the Treasury team.

Accountabilities:

Customer

  • Provide expert advice on foreign exchange and other financial risk exposure to the business.
  • Deliver concise and accurate management information to explain cash positions and risk exposures.
  • Prepare and present elements of the Treasury Reporting pack to the Treasury Committee, as well as other papers to support business goals and strategy.

Colleague

  • Provide leadership to the currency working group for the approval of strategic spend in foreign currency by the business.
  • Provide specialist market insight and analysis.

Operational

  • Maintain strong bank relationships to secure maximum value from all treasury transactions.
  • Gather, review and challenge foreign currency forecast requirements and develop hedging strategies to align the purchase of currency to policy.
  • Provide technical support to the treasury team on financial hedging positions for energy requirements in accordance with Treasury Policy and the Energy Risk Management Framework and transact hedging according to market conditions and requirements.
  • Ensure hedge accounting requirements are adhered to.
  • Monitor the exposure to, and credit risk of, financial institutions, and ensure that these remains with the Treasury policy limits.
  • Champion key treasury initiatives to speed up and simplify the Group Treasury function.

Sales, Profit and Cash

  • Drive value through efficient cash, FX, and interest rate management; lower transaction costs; and optimise borrowing costs to directly protect and enhance profitability by cash, improving financial controls and delivering a quicker, more efficient close.
  • Create a restless culture of continuous improvement across the function to focus on service, costs, cash flow by involving colleagues in joint problem solving.

More about you:

Knowledge

  • Deep technical understanding of financial markets, derivative instrument mechanics and valuations.
  • Thorough knowledge of Treasury systems and control frameworks.
  • Professional Qualification in Treasury (AMCT or MCT).
  • An accounting qualification would be an advantage.

Skills

  • Strong negotiation skills to transact treasury deals with relationship banks.
  • Reporting and analysis.
  • Numerate, articulate and able to maintain high quality and accuracy whilst meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and work constructively with colleagues across the business at all levels.

Experience

  • Experience working within a corporate or financial services treasury function in a market facing role.
  • Hedge accounting solutions and processes.
  • Managing transactional foreign exchange risk.
  • Cash flow forecasting.
  • Implementation of Treasury Management Systems.
  • Financing/refinancing.
  • Asset financing (including fleet management).
