About The Role

This role sits within Finance, reporting to the Head of Finance Transformation. It provides experienced, hands-on Finance Systems analyst capability and works closely with the Finance Systems Controller, providing cover for defined Finance Systems activities where appropriate.

The role supports BAU stability and controlled change across the Finance Systems estate by undertaking practical Finance-side systems work across incident support, helpdesk activity, system administration, master data, access, recertification, control evidence, operational monitoring, testing, documentation, user enablement, Change Assessment and Routing (L1 / L2 Triage) support and Finance-side change-control lifecycle evidence.

Working closely with the Finance Systems Controller, the role helps keep Finance Systems activity visible, evidenced, coordinated and supportable across BAU, Finance’s Change Assessment and Routing model (L1 / L2 Triage), and Finance-side change-control lifecycle. It is responsible for defined practical Finance-side systems activities and routines, while escalating risks, gaps, dependencies and control issues where broader stewardship, ownership, sponsorship, prioritisation or senior judgement is required.

The role supports the operation and evidence of Finance-side systems controls across BAU and change. Accountability for business processes, business controls and operational decisions sits with the relevant line owner, process owner or control owner in accordance with RACI.

This is a hands-on, technical Finance Systems role requiring strong Finance grounding, practical systems capability, attention to detail, sound judgement and the discipline to protect BAU stability while supporting controlled improvement, Change Assessment and Routing (L1 / L2 Triage) activity and Finance-side change-control lifecycle disciplines.

About You

You bring practical experience across Finance systems, systems control, audit, change and operational delivery. You understand the importance of BAU stability, control, evidence, stakeholder ownership and controlled change in a Finance environment.

You may have built your career through Finance or audit, likely moving into transformation, change or systems environments. You combine strong technical Finance grounding with practical systems experience and change-management capability. You are comfortable undertaking hands-on systems work while also bringing the judgement, credibility and discipline expected of an experienced Finance Systems practitioner Matter Expert (SME) providing trusted Finance Systems support and operational continuity.

You are organised, analytical and pragmatic. You can investigate issues, ask the right questions, gather evidence, identify dependencies and follow activity through to closure. You are confident working with Finance users, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Technology colleagues, vendors, consultants and control owners.

You communicate clearly, keep stakeholders informed and take a customer / stakeholder-focused approach to support and problem-solving. You are proactive and flexible, able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy, evidence quality and attention to detail.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
