What you’ll do:
Based in our central London office this is an exciting and challenging position for a Senior Financial Accountant, who thrives on new challenges and enjoys working in a fast-paced, highly flexible environment.
With a strong understanding of the IFRS accounting policies to be applied to a financial services business, you will have enhanced relationship building skills, working collaboratively across the finance team and wider business.
As a pivotal member of the accounting function, you will manage the accounting to trial balance, including month-end procedures of the accounts in preparation for the Financial Controller review. You will be responsible for ensuring that the company accounts present a true and fair view of performance, that relevant accounting policies are effectively adhered to and that new policies are implemented where appropriate. You will work in partnership with the Head of Financial Control and the finance team to ensure that this is achieved in an effective and efficient manner.
Assisting with finance-related change management in the business, you will work on finance process optimization where necessary to improve accuracy and efficiency.
The gatekeeper of the financial statements, you will be responsible for ensuring that the financial ledger is complete and accurate, that the special purpose vehicles and subsidiary entities are compliant from an accounting and regulatory perspective and all balances are correctly reflected both at consolidated and individual basis.
Key responsibilities:
- Management of the balance sheet accounts and reconciliations, especially bank accounts, suspense accounts and other transactional accounts.
- Ensure daily balancing between the receivables and the ledger is completed and suspense items resolved on a timely basis.
- Complete daily sign-off of the Payment Safeguarding of customers’ cash.
- Working collaboratively with the Philippines finance team.
- Optimising processes and controls across finance, enhancing current procedures and implementing new ones to drive improvements.
- Liaising with external auditors, to ensure that audits are managed in an effective way for all entities.
- Finance owner of the IFRS 9 process, challenging the risk team and ensuring appropriate documentation and independent review each period end.
- Working closely and collaboratively with the Head of Financial Control, Head of FP&A and Treasury to ensure full understanding of the business drivers, emerging developments, and implications of any new projects to ensure that the impact on financial accounting is fully understood by all.
- Submitting all returns to the Office for National Statistics.
- Performing ad-hoc business analysis to drive and improve the financial performance of the business.
- Work with business/functional leaders to identify and recommend opportunities that drive process automation and optimization.

What you'll need:
- Experience working in a Finance position within a fast-paced financial services environment is essential.
- Experience working with offshore teams outside of the UK.
- Good technical IFRS accounting knowledge.
- Experience and comfort working with the senior finance and operations stakeholders.
- Highly proficient in Excel and specifically working with functions like pivot tables and advanced formulas (Sumifs, X-lookups etc).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good emotional intelligence demonstrating an ability to work collaboratively across the organisation.
- Be a self-starter / self-motivated, able to manage tight deadlines and capable of staying on track and pursuing solutions without supervision.
- The ability, willingness and confidence to challenge opinions respectfully to offer alternatives and to construct a compelling argument to support an opinion.
- Proven experience driving and supporting financial change initiatives.
- Ability to build rapport and influence outcomes.
- Qualified accountant in ACA/ACCA /CIMA with 5+ years’ post-qualified experience.
