Referment

Referment is working with a fast-growing consumer finance business that is building a fairer and more transparent alternative to traditional short-term credit.

They’re looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join the finance team and take real ownership across month-end, balance sheet control, reporting, and audit.

This would suit a newly qualified accountant who enjoys being close to the numbers, but also wants to move beyond simply producing them and start analysing performance, improving processes, and influencing how the finance function operates.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Owning key parts of the month-end close process
  • Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Producing variance analysis and commentary on monthly performance
  • Supporting management accounts and departmental cost analysis
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns
  • Supporting external audit and maintaining audit-ready documentation
  • Assisting with technical accounting journals, including IFRS 9
  • Identifying opportunities to improve and automate finance processes
  • Supporting junior members of the finance team

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience within lending, fintech, or financial services would be particularly relevant, but isn’t essential.

This is a strong opportunity for someone looking to make the step from newly qualified accountant into a broader, more commercially exposed finance role within a growing fintech environment.
